Delete your Rewear UK account
You can close your account yourself at any time, in the Rewear UK app or on this website. It takes a minute and needs your password. If you cannot sign in, email us and we will do it for you.
Rewear UK is a marketplace for second-hand clothing in the UK, run by Reece McAllion, trading as Rewear.
In the app
- Open the Rewear UK app and sign in.
- Open the Account tab, then tap the settings (gear) icon in the corner of your profile.
- At the bottom of Settings, below Sign out, tap Delete account.
- Enter your password, tap Delete my account, and confirm.
If you never confirmed your email address, the app opens on Confirm your email instead of your account. Tap Delete this account at the bottom of that screen, then enter your password as above.
On the website
The same steps work in any web browser, so you do not need the app, even if you have already uninstalled it.
- Go to www.rewearuk.com and sign in.
- Open Account, then the settings (gear) icon.
- Choose Delete account at the bottom, enter your password, choose Delete my account and confirm.
If the website asks you to confirm your email address first, choose Delete this account at the bottom of that page.
By email
If you cannot sign in, email support@rewearuk.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will respond within one month, and there is no charge. If you have only forgotten your password, you can reset it from the sign-in screen and use the steps above.
Before you start
You cannot close the account while a buyer is waiting for something you sold. Post it, or cancel the order so the buyer is refunded in full, and wait for anything you have posted to be delivered.
Want a copy of your data first? In Settings, choose Download my data and we will email it to you.
Deleted straight away
- Your profile: username, photo, bio, town, measurements and holiday note, and the Business seller label with its trading name and address.
- Your email address and password. You can sign up again with the same address later.
- Your saved addresses, with any mobile number on them.
- Saved pieces, saved searches, follows, blocks and your activity feed.
- Your search and browsing history.
- The pieces you have on sale are taken down, and the photos of every piece you did not sell are deleted. Open offers are closed.
- The photos you sent in messages. The messages stay for the other member and show that a photo was removed.
- The phones we send notifications to, and, if you set up payouts, the fingerprint of your name and date of birth that stops one person running two selling accounts.
- You are signed out on every device.
Deleted within 30 days
- What you wrote about the pieces you did not sell: their descriptions, measurements and declared flaws, and their titles too, unless a conversation, an offer or a report refers to the piece.
- Our copies of the emails we sent you.
- Your boards, ideas and votes.
- Records of the automatic checks on photos you uploaded.
What we keep, and why
- Orders you bought or sold, with the delivery name, address and mobile number on them and the payment records behind them: 6 years after the order, because UK tax and accounting rules require it. Your username shows as a deleted account, but the name and address an order was posted to stay on it: the seller can still see them, and we keep them for our records.
- Messages and reviews stay for the other member, because they are that member’s record too. They show as coming from a deleted account, with the title of the piece they were about.
- Reports and records of enforcement action: up to 2 years after the account is closed, so a repeat offender cannot simply start again. That goes for reports you made as well as reports about you.
- Stripe, if you set up payouts, keeps the identity checks it carried out, under its own legal obligations.
- Server logs are kept by our hosting provider, Railway, under its retention policy rather than ours. They hold IP addresses and request paths, not the contents of your account.
- Backups of the database and the photos, kept so that Rewear can be put back after a failure: anything deleted can stay in one for up to 35 days, and then it goes from those too.
Deleting some of your data without closing your account
- Switch off personalised recommendations, or clear your search and browsing history: Account, settings, then Recommendations.
- Clear your measurements: Account, settings, then Edit profile.
- Delete saved addresses and saved searches from their own screens in Settings, and a listing from its own page.
