REWEAR
Considered pieces,
worn before
Rewear is a United Kingdom marketplace where people buy and sell second-hand clothing, shoes and accessories directly with each other.
What is sold here
Listed by individual members: pre-owned clothing, footwear, bags and accessories, for women, men and children, and new, unused make-up, skincare and grooming products for women and men. Every listing is a physical item posted to the buyer. Nothing digital is sold, there are no subscriptions, and nothing electronic is sold here.
What it costs
Sellers list free and keep the full asking price. Buyers pay the item price, delivery, and a buyer protection fee.
Buyer protection is what Rewear earns, apart from a few pence on most delivery prices: each is what its label costs, rounded up to a price ending in 9p. Both are itemised in full at checkout before payment. Delivery from £2.29 is locker to locker, where the seller has a locker nearby; to a door it is from £3.69. How it compares with other UK marketplaces, with sources and the prices at which they are cheaper, is set out on the fees page.
How a purchase works
- The buyer pays by card. The money is held by Rewear, not passed straight to the seller.
- The seller posts the item within five days using a prepaid label.
- The buyer confirms it arrived, and the seller's share is released to them.
How sellers are paid
Sellers are paid through Stripe. Setting that up takes a couple of minutes inside the app: a name, a date of birth, an address and a UK bank account. Those details are passed straight to Stripe, who verify the seller and move the money; Rewear stores none of them, keeping only the reference Stripe gives back. Once a buyer confirms delivery, the item price is transferred to the seller's Stripe account and Stripe pays it into their bank on its usual schedule. Anything earned before a seller finishes setting up is held for them and released automatically once they do.
Refunds and cancellations
If a seller cancels before posting, the buyer is refunded in full to the original card. If an item never arrives, or arrives significantly different from its description, the buyer reports it and the payment is refunded rather than released. Buyer protection covers exactly this.
